How to Swap Tokens

FxWallet's built-in swap feature allows you to exchange one cryptocurrency for another directly within the app, without using a centralized exchange.

Step-by-Step: Swap Tokens in FxWallet

  1. Open FxWallet and tap the Swap tab.
  2. Select the token you want to swap from (e.g., ETH).
  3. Select the token you want to receive (e.g., USDT).
  4. Enter the amount you wish to swap.
  5. Review the exchange rate, estimated output, and gas fee.
  6. Adjust slippage tolerance if needed (tap the settings icon).
  7. Tap Swap and confirm the transaction.
  8. Wait for the blockchain to confirm the transaction.

What Is Slippage Tolerance?

Slippage tolerance is the maximum price difference you are willing to accept between the quoted price and the actual execution price. Token prices can change between the time you submit the swap and when it is confirmed on the blockchain.

  • Default slippage: 0.5% (suitable for most tokens)
  • For volatile or low-liquidity tokens: increase to 1–3%
  • Setting slippage too low may cause the swap to fail
  • Setting slippage too high may result in a less favorable rate

Understanding the Swap Fee

Every swap involves two types of fees:

  • Network gas fee: paid to blockchain miners or validators (varies by network)
  • Protocol fee: a small fee charged by the liquidity provider or routing protocol

FxWallet does not control blockchain gas fees. Gas fees are determined by network conditions at the time of the transaction.

Tips for a Successful Swap

  • Always keep a small amount of the native token (e.g., ETH, BNB) for gas fees.
  • Check the exchange rate before confirming.
  • For large amounts, consider splitting into smaller swaps to reduce price impact.
  • If the swap fails, check your gas balance and try again.
